Package uploaded to Debian, and a few oneiric builds into my PPA
Get it while it’s hot - report your bugs!
Hello, World!
I’m considering going for my Debian Maintainer-ship in Debian-land. If you’ve worked with me and feel like you’d like to advocate me, I’d be really thankful.
I’ve not applied yet, but I’ll post again when I do. I need to get my new 4096R key signed, since I figured out (just now) that my old 1024D key was a bit too weak.
One love, Paul
Hello, World,
I’m writing this in the hopes an over-worked Debian Developer catches this point.
If you’re a DD, and you need some help with your packages (or have a cool idea for a package that you’d be willing to sponsor), I’d love to help.
Gimme an email :)
edit: I think i’ve committed a bunch of time. If you really really need help, still email me :)
Attention Fluxians! Still want to avoid using Unity? Well, c’mon over! New 1.3.0 release (hot off the presses!)
From the fluxbox.org website:
You did’nt see that coming, did you? Sat Feb 19 18:50:02 UTC 2011
Fluxbox 1.3 has arrived! A long long long time is over, and we finally decided to make a release.
* Added support for bidirectional text, #2801836. * Allow to override 'Focus New Windows' via .fluxbox/apps * New actions: o ActivateTab o ArrangeWindowsVertical * New 'MoveN' and 'ClickN' action support for keys file * New focus model 'StrictMouseFocus'. This will affect focus when closing, moving, lowering windows, changing desktops, etc, whereas the 'MouseFocus' model will only change focus when you move the mouse. * New "background: unset" property for use in overlays. * Allowing relative paths for background images in style files. * Allowing matching screen number in ClientPattern. * Removed rootcommand from init, as fbsetbg is run automatically nowadays. * Removed line style resources from init file.In any case, we hope to get more into the ‘flux’ way of doing things, aka release early and often. So, have fun with this release.
Personal note from Mathias: This one is dedicated to the first official ‘fluxbaby’ on the planet: my daughter Karo, born on 6th of November 2010. Which is, btw, the birthday of > Henrik as well :) The Fluxbox Team
Debian package hitting unstable soon! :)

Howdy, World!
In anticipation of the natty release, as well as squeeze, I’m putting out a blanket request for help with bug triage.
Help can be had with the fluxbox project in launchpad, ( or even with the ubuntu package bugs ).
QA and testing on fluxbox via git or the latest package in Debian unstable would really be useful. Try and break fluxbox!
If you have some serious bug chops, and wish to help, send me an email, and request to join fluxbox buggers.
Thanks, intertubers!
The Fluxbox crew ( ak|ra, really ) debugged and fixed a particularly nasty bug (#546707) that would cause system lockup for Fluxbox under nxserver.
Thanks, ak|ra! I’ll be uploading it to Debian ASAP :)
Hello, World
I hate spam so much. An ungodly amount of hate. It sure does not help that current F/OSS’d spam-fighting techniques can’t keep up.
My idea? You know that little “Mark as Spam” button in gmail?
If you try and hit that on a post that came from a ML, it will offer to un-subscribe you from the list. Great if you’re stuck on a list, but it sucks if you want to be on it ( and it’s legit spam ).
Why not create an open API for Mailman ( and so on ) for whitelist’d entities to submit the “report”. If we have a shortage of data for spam-fighting, let’s get it!
Hello, World! Well, this is my first time uploading anything to Debian, and It’s been in the NEW queue for a few days now. I checked it out, and found ( to my surprise ) that there were packages in the queue as old as one year ( 11 months ). Holy hell! There are 258 packages in the Queue, and I’m in line 20th from last. Looks like I’ll be standing around for a while. In the spirit of the FTP NEW package review process, here’s a song ( Here’s the link if the embed below is not working ).
Hello, World! I’ve seen lots of issues in #fluxbox ( on freenode ) with people upgrading from the old 1.1.1 series release to the new 1.1.1 git version. There’s an issue because quite a few directives were un-hardcoded from Fluxbox it’s self, and moved to the conf file ( in an effort to expose more of the functionality to the power user ). Currently, the only way to solve this is by running:
mv .fluxbox fluxbox_old
After this, please restart fluxbox ( right click —> restart ). If there is still an issue, try restarting one more time ( right click —> restart ). Sorry for the bumps, everyone. Much love.
Hello, World! Sorry FTP Team! I take back all of my snark and my jab at the FTP team. Ya’ll work hard, sorry for poking fun, I had no idea the NEW queue was put on hold during release freeze. My bad.
