After seeing this post on reddit, I ported the OP’s code to ERMAHGIT — after following the following (simple) instructions:

sudo ./setup.py install

then, head over to a friendly git repo, and do the following:

git config core.editor /usr/local/bin/ermahgit

Anyway, here’s a few lines from some random git commits I have handy:
